Winnipeg Green Show!

After a couple of super busy weeks, today is getting a late start.  Actually, today is pretty much getting no start as it's 3:30 and I'm starting to look at my work for the week...however, after being a pretty negligent wife and mom for the past couple weeks, today there is food in my cupboards and my son is wearing clean clothes again :)

Last week I helped to plan a media dinner to promote the Winnipeg Green Lifestyle & Organic Living Show.  I wish I had pictures, because it was really a great night, but I don't.  The Show organizers held a Big Green Dinner at Kimch'i Cafe in the Exchange District.  Dinner was prepared by the chefs from the Fairmont, Diversity Foods, Dandelion Eatery, and Kimch'i.  I rarely eat at events (and never eat warm food), but at the Big Green Dinner I got to sit down and enjoy one of the best meals I've ever tasted.  I was also fortunate to sit at the same table as Judy Wasylycia-Leis, who was really lovely and has some great ideas on how to run this city.

Over the weekend the Winnipeg Green Lifestyle Show took place at the Convention Centre.  I set up my booth to look like a vintage garden-party, inspired by a stack of vintage ribbon that my husband found in our storage room. I met many engaged couples and people that were willing to pass on my card to couples that they knew, and also made some good connections for non-profit and corporate events.  I was super impressed with the show and the turnout....Here's a few photos of my booth:

I used mason jars tied to sticks as a garden-y vase.  All flowers were from Strawberry Lane at the St. Norbert Farmers' Market:

I love these round yellow flowers.  Does anyone know what they are?

Mismatched china place settings:

My sister-in-law, Char, was a really good sport and pulled this driftwood out of the riverbank for me.  It turned out to be exactly the look I was hoping for:

If anyone reading is here for the first time after meeting at the Green Show, thanks for stopping by!  Please check out this page for more information on our services.  We have openings for complimentary consultations this week and next week, and we'd love to sit down and talk about your next event!

Congratulations on the show. Your booth was lovely. Thought you might appreciate appreciate this cool time lapse video shot in an urban community in Toronto where Kia is working to drive change.

Beautiful booth Jess! Stood out in the crowd...in a very good way.

Also I am happy to have contributed to any portion of such creativity :) Even if it that includes wrestling a log out of the Red River bank.

Thanks Char - the log definitely made the table :)

Hi! You might know this by now, but those yellow round flowers are Billy Balls, or Crespidia. I love them too!
