Decorating for Face 2 Face Winnipeg!

Last week I had the pleasure of helping to decorate for a face 2 face event, coordinated by Candy Consulting.  It was a fantastic evening with a variety of people looking to network and get ideas for throwing events - from event planners to real estate agents looking for ideas for their next party, it was great to meet people and hear about all the exciting things going on in the Winnipeg event industry.

The emcee was Aisha Alfa and she was amazing, and Guerrillas of Soul played, and they were fantastic.  Creating a Scene also helped with the decor and provided the rentals, and the room looked cheerful and spring-y.

Here's me with Lisa from Candy Consulting, and Maggi from Creating a Scene:

Half the tables had potted plants as centrepieces:

And the other half had these tulips:

These centrepieces were made by taking tin cans of different sizes and gluing moss around the cans.  Next, I tied the cans with jute, filled them with potting soil and just before the event started I "planted" two tulips in each can.  It took me about 3 hours to make 18 cans, and was pretty inexpensive.  I think this would make a great centrepiece at a shower or rehearsal dinner or outdoor event, or at an outdoor wedding.

Here's another angle:

I'm really excited for the next face 2 face event in October!  It was a great night and we had a fantastic time meeting new people and chatting about events in Winnipeg.

I liked the lily centerpieces. I do have to ask where you got the moss from though? It looks very earthy and appropriate for an outdoor event.

Hi Danielle!

I got the moss from Michaels. For my first attempt I just bought a bag of moss, and glued it to the side of the can but it took forever and didn't look very good. So I went back to the store and found moss that was sold in sheets, so all I had to do was cut it into rectangles and wrap the rectangles around the cans, gluing the ends down.

For the night I knew I only needed the flowers to last for a couple hours, so I just stuck them into the dirt...but if I did it again I would use the stick the flowers in a water tube to make them last.

Do you have a website for Decorating Services by DG? I'd love to check it out...

Thanks so much for your comment!

Hello Jess,

That's a pretty clever idea. I'll definitely have to take a look at Micheals sometime and see what they have. It's amazing what you can do when you put your imagination to it.

My website is www.dgagnon32.wix.com/decoratingservices. Feel free to check it out.

Thank you for the reply,

Danielle
